One evening we were playing in our yard and Jeff heard little chirps. Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw this tiny little duckling running across the street toward our house.
After getting him set up in a nice warm box, we went back outside to play and we heard more chirping. Sure enough, another little duckling was running in the street. So Jeff caught it and put it in with it's assumed sibling. We think their mommy must have gotten hit by a car or worse...eaten by an animal.
So the next day the girls and I took the box of ducklings up to my parents neighborhood where there are several ponds with duck families.
The girls have taken several trips with Grandma and Papa (in the golf cart, their favorite thing to do these days!) over to the pond to check on the little ducks and it appears that they have been adopted by a nice mommy duck. The mommy only had 8 little ducks before we placed ours in her pond and ever since, my parents have counted 10 little ducks with her! YAY!
The girls really enjoy seeing the ducks and love that we "found" our little ducks' Mommy and Daddy! :)
