Ribbons and Bows....get used to it!

If you have known me for a long time then you probably have never seen me wear pink....I'm just not that girly girl type. Well, it seems to be changing ever since I had THREE girls! Now I'm even buying pink for myself. What happened to me? :)  I guess I have accepted the fact that my life will probably be filled with ribbons and bows and pink and purple for quite a long time. And believe it or not....I am actually LOVING it! I just love getting the girls all cute and pretty. My friend April got the girls tons of ADORABLE little bows for their hair and I always am trying to get them to leave them in. Ava NEEDS the bow to keep her hair out of her face, but she has started to mess with it as soon as I put it in. Oh well. It's cute for a second or two!  Here are some of my favorite pics from the past month of the girls with their cute little bows. And their cutie-pa-tootie outfits are gifts from my friend Kristen! Thanks April and Kristen for making sure my girls are always stylin' !!!

Anna Caroline
aka: Bear

Ava Jane
aka: J. Bird. birdie, smiley

Alexis Marie
aka: Goose, silly goose, smiley-wiley, lexis wexis,

All 3 like to clap, and they know to clap when I say good job. It's really funny when I say good job to one girl and I will look around and one of the other girls or even both will start clapping. It's like the girls have their own private audience cheering them on no matter what they do. So cute. Ava especially likes to clap for everyone...including herself.

Bath Time!

Pictures from Bath time a few weeks ago. These are their new hooded flower towels that they got for Christmas from my brother and family. Thanks Todd, Michele and Hunter! The towels are so cute and the perfect size!

Ugh, it happened!

Well, we lasted 10.5 months without any illnesses and the streak ends here.
Anna, Ava, Alexis and now Jeff and Marie are ALL sick!  Yuck! I was dreading this day and am glad we made it nearly 11 months without being sick because this is not fun. The girls got it first and really it's just a really bad cold with lots of congestion and coughing. I took them to the pediatrician and she prescribed an antibiotic that they are taking, but in the meantime, Jeff and I have come down with it too. So if the girls feel like we do, I feel bad for them. I hate head colds!

Just wanted to let you know where I've been and why I haven't posted recently. I have ended up taking naps during their nap times and pretty much have been going to bed early too to try to beat this thing. Let's hope it passes soon. Jeff and I have an anniversary this weekend and tickets to a comedian show. Crossing my fingers we get to go. Hope you are all better than us. Maybe this can be our only sickness for at least another 10.5 months.

New blog header!

I know it's still winter but I just don't feel like putting up a picture with flurries and snowmen. So instead, the Thornhill household is getting excited for the girls' first birthday and pretending it's SPRING already! It seems like a ways away, but I'm sure that March 3rd will sneak up on us just like Christmas did!  And let's hope that we don't get a blizzard the first weekend of March like we did last year in Ohio!  Regardless, I think we'll plan for an inside party.  Well, I better get planning!

10 Months!

Oh my goodness, this milestone really crept up on me. I know I say it every month, but really, I can't believe they are 10 months old today. Only 2 more months until they turn ONE!  How exciting.  I even have the theme for their first Birthday party selected, but I'm not telling you yet. No way...and ruin the surprise?!  Oh, but did I mention, how cute and fun it is going to be?  hehe!!!

I didn't even get the chance to take any official pictures today. I'll try tomorrow.
In the meantime, here's what the trio is up to:

ANNA:
-SCRUNCHES her nose and does a bull-dog impression. Now she does it whenever Jeff does it first. So funny. It's like she is trying to get you to laugh at her. It works!
-WAVES, but is still perfecting the new skill.
- SQUINTS at you and gives you this sweet little smile. Pretty cute, but I'm also on the lookout in case she is squinting to see better. Right now, I think it's just her being cute.
-SINGS at the top of her lungs. She loves music, and when she hears songs (especially people singing, like in church (or at my Grandma's funeral) she likes to sing along. Let's just say, her singing is like LA LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAA, LAAAAAA, LA LAAAA, LAA, La.  Funny I'm sure to everyone around us, but hard to keep quiet in church. Although, I don't really want to tell her to stop singing. I think that's against the rules.

AVA:
-WALKS!  Yup, she's been walking since 9.5 months and now she is getting pretty good where she can actually squat down pick up a toy and stand back up. Watch out world, here she comes!
-WAVES really well. It's so cute and perfect. The way she cups her hand and almost squeezes the air right out of her palm. And other times, she does this little flick of her wrist and waves like she is practicing to be a princess. She loves to wave at her daddy and Grandma most.
-HATES to put on clothes or her coat. Something about putting her arms in sleeves. I don't know, but she seriously can twist into what looks like a pretzel to avoid sleeves.
-PUSHES her shopping cart they got for Christmas. So funny to see this little itty bitty pushing a cart. It's laugh out loud funny!

ALEXIS:
-DANCES if you hold both of her hands, she bounces up and down and does this little shimmy with her behind. She first danced with Grandpa and hasn't stopped since.
-LOVES Grandpa. He is totally her buddy and she loves for him to hold her. She's a little bummed right now because he has a cold and she doesn't know why he won't hold her.
-TILTS her head to the side and gives you a great-big-sweetest-smile-ever-look. Seriously, just melts your heart it's so cute!
-STANDS on her own for a few seconds and even will take a few steps towards someone if you help her. She's getting closer to walking.

Oh and something they all are doing: Giving each other kisses. It's seriously the cutest, sweetest thing EVER! They lean in (or on top of one another) and touch each others cheeks or noses and just giggle. Ava does it the most, but the other two just laugh and giggle when she leans it. Her hair must tickle them or something. It's really funny!

Happy 10 months girls! We have been so blessed and thank God every day for each of you! Love you Anna, Ava and Alexis! Mom and Dad

Here are a few pictures I took in Dec. of the girls in their "Baby's 1st Christmas" outfits given to us by my friends April and Amanda. I swear, when I first saw these outfits last Jan. at one of my baby showers, I thought no way that they would be big enough to wear them by Christmas. Boy, was I wrong! They are already too big for them! Check out the little Santas on their feet. SO CUTE!

Ever Wonder...

Ever wonder what is involved with taking the "all important" Christmas card photos?
Here's our story:

Change into clean diapers. Have Christmas dresses close and ready.
Take a few pictures of tree and area to see how background will look.
Notice that too much light is coming in windows. Will need to get closer.
Ok, who's crawling under the tree?

Ava, quite chasing Bailey, please!

What mom? I don't see a kitty. :)

Ok, let's set up a few chairs in front of the tree to see if that works.
Here Anna, sit there and let Momma try a few trial pictures.

Anna: "Hey, aren't there supposed to be 2 more babies in these chairs?"

Attempt to get babies in dresses and still keep them happy.
Take a little break to allow them to get used to dresses.
Put babies in chairs. Try to get their attention, but fail to attract more attention than the tree.

Ok, everyone look at Momma!
They all looked, but didn't smile. Hmph. Still keep in case this is the best it gets.
Let's try distracting with the Christmas blocks and maybe some pinecones.
Ok, it's kinda cute if they all look and touch the pinecones. Maybe this is a keeper too.
Now for some individual shots.

Anna seems to be content. Not really smiling, but not crying...yet.

Ok, here come the tears.

No wait, she is smiling again...but I just faked sneezed at her and made her smile and by the time I got back to position and snapped the picture...yup, I moved the camera, so this picture won't work either, even though she is actually smiling. geesh. I now have sweat dripping from my forehead...so attractive. Glad, I'm not in these pictures.

Alright, we might have to keep the one of Anna, not look, not smiling, not crying, just being content with her hand in her mouth...lovely. Let's move on to Ava. Sweet little Ava with the cute green bow in her hair.

Looks like she loves looking at the tree.

And at the cat as he passes by.

And at the floor....(no, I didn't let her fall off of the chair.)

Ok, so she loves looking everywhere except at the camera. I guess we'll have a card this year with "artistic" shots. :) Let's see if Alexis is ready.

"Hey, am I missing something over by the back door. Do they see Santa?"

Seriously, is Mom really making us wear these capes?

Doesn't she know it's like 70 degrees in here? Why aren't my sisters in capes?  (editor's note....Anna and Ava wouldn't keep them on long enough for a picture...that's why only Alexis has pictures of her cape.)

Phew! Looks like we will have "artistic" individual shots and two shots of all three. One with everyone looking but not crying or smiling and one of everyone looking at pincones....ok, that's a wrap...or a cape!  Merry Christmas 2008!

I hope you all had a very Merry, jolly, happy, festive Christmas! I know it's late, but thought you might all enjoy what it took to send you our Christmas Greetings. Always entertaining to say the least. If I have my act together next year, maybe I'll hire a real photographer for the Christmas card photo. We'll see. Can you even imagine what the girls will be doing next year? How fun!!!
