Dear Ava,

From the moment you entered this world, you were ready. You were so alert and the way you would look up at us with those big blue eyes was amazing. You were certainly a snuggler. You loved to be all curled up on our chests and nestle in right under our chins. We fell in love instantly.

You seemed more shy during the early months, but you have certainly proved us wrong. You have taken life by the horns and have continued to amaze us. You have the sweetest little smile, and can also be quite strong willed, but only because you really know what you want. Although sometimes this means pushing your sisters out of the way to get to mom or dad first.  You catch on to things very quickly and do a pretty good job of listening when we are trying to teach you something new. Maybe this is why you have learned so many signs so quickly. You can sign: more, all done, milk, hi/bye, direct traffic/choo choo, eat/hungry. You know where your pretty barrette should be in your hair and point to it if we ask. You were the first to crawl and then of course learned to walk early too (9.5 months!). Now you are running around and you use it to your advantage. You are a little toy thief and can swipe toys pretty quickly, but then discard them just as fast. You want to be held a lot, but even more so if someone else is already in the lap you want.  You giggle at your sisters and like to give them hugs and kisses. You give really good hugs and lay your head on our chests and say "awww" at the same time. When you do our hearts just swell with love.

We love watching you learn and are grateful for your smile every day.
We love you so much Ava Jane.
Happy first birthday!

Love, Mom and Dad
