Last born may be the first home!

So yesterday my mom brought me down to the NICU to visit with the girls. We were able to spend the entire afternoon there and then Jeff came after work too. All 3 are doing amazingly well and the Dr.'s just keep telling us that we have some really healthy kids! "Kids"....wow, that sounds so strange, but we have kids! :)

Anna and Ava moved into open cribs on Saturday night and Alexis moved into her open crib on Sunday evening. What this means is they are no longer in their little isolettes, but instead in an open crib where they have to regulate their own temperature. They all took to it like little champs and have had no problems with temps! It's also fun, because when they moved to their open cribs, they also got to put on their little sleeper outfits for the first time. Even preemie size is huge on them, but the nurses assure me that they will be filling them out in no time.

All of last week, little Alexis (the youngest and smallest) was sleeping A LOT, so we didn't have any photos of her awake. Well during our visit on Sunday, she was WIDE awake and I included some of her newest pictures below as well as some of her yesterday! Speaking of Alexis, the Dr.'s think she may be the first to be coming home. It seems crazy to us since she is the smallest, but she is doing so well and hasn't had any spit up issues and continues to chow down on her bottles, so she may come home as early as TODAY or TOMORROW!!!! Hey Aunt Melissa...sounds like we have another feisty and fun "baby of the family" on our hands like you and me! :)

Anna and Ava are both doing great too. They each had one episode where they spit up a little and their heart rates dropped for a second or so while they did it. The Dr.'s say after they have one of those episodes, they generally like to keep them for 5 more days to keep watching them to make sure it doesn't happen again. They said with one baby it is generally not an issue, but since we will have 3 at home, it would be hard for us to ever relax if one or 2 of them was spitting up and could possibly choke. So as a precaution, Anna and Ava will probably be there for a few more days. I think it is because they like to eat so much and get a little too much all at once. :)

I'll let you all know when Alexis comes home. I think this will all be getting a lot more real this week. :)

Imagine my surprise when I opened your blog to show my nursing friends and found I was mentioned by name!! Yes we younger kids know how to hold our own..........My Katelyn says she agrees!! She was my smallest one too!! I am sure you are excited to be anticipating the first trip home with whichever girl(s) is ready to go!! Elysia says they are adorable and is ready to volunteer her services sitting! The other two would love to help too! One per girl! Maybe down the road this will sound appealing when you can exchange an extra snuggle for a little sleep!! All our best........the girls pictures are already circulating among the Perrysburg schools....celebs already! Has Ken devised a carrier for the Segway yet?? Good Luck! Yarians

Looks like the Hagen clan is really getting into the cyber space thing. Not to be left out Nebraska has to weight in also. Everyone at work has been really excited by the "trio". I took the pics in on Sunday and will share a bit more tomorrow at work. Really excited for you all as you begin to take those precious bundles home. Love this blog spot. Way to go....
