1 Month Old!

Can you believe the girls were born 4 weeks ago today? The time has certainly flown by, but that could also be because our days and nights run together and it's usually not until after Noon that I even think about eating or even taking a shower on those busy days. Wait, are there slow days?

So, in honor of the girls being part of the Thornhill Family tree officially for 4 weeks, I thought you might all enjoy their One Month old pictures. Anna and Ava were both awake for the shoot, but Alexis, who is normally my awake child...decided the blanket was too soft and comfy so she decided to snooze. :)

4 nights and more funny photos!

So my mom hasn't stayed overnight since Tuesday night, which means Jeff and I have successfully taken care of the girls for 4 nights straight on our own. We have another night coming up tonight to make our streak an impressive 5 nights! I know this may seem like a small thing, but really it's an accomplishment in our eyes! Jeff has been great! I should probably say that again...he's fantastic with the girls! It's been really nice because it seems when one of us is extra tired or is getting frustrated because we don't know how to get one of them to stop crying, the other of us is able to step up and be the calming force. So far it is working...Thank God for that!

We've had some really funny conversations with each other too during our middle of the night feedings. Some probably not so politically correct to post here, but nonetheless...very funny! It's nice to see us evolving into this next step together. I mean, we're a family of 5 cool is that?!

Since I am obviously finding myself and our situation pretty funny these days, I am posting a picture of Alexis from Easter that really made me laugh. I know Anna and Ava are in the picture too, but to me, if you look at Alexis, she looks like a mini Marlon Brando with wrinkles and all saying: I'll make you an offer you can't refuse. Maybe not, but the picture just cracked me up when I saw it.

The picture below also made my mom and I laugh when were were trying to get the girls all close enough to get them all in the same shot and Anna decides that Ava's head was the perfect resting spot for her arm....We sure are going to have a ton of laughs at our house for years to come. These girls are constantly making me laugh and smile. We are just so blessed. :)

Things I find funny at 1:40 in the morning.

So I'm holding Alexis after she has finished her 1am bottle and she has decided that this will be her awake time. She is not fussing...but she is not sleeping either. :) So I thought I would post a picture that I find particularly funny...especially at 1:40am. Enjoy!

This is a picture my mom took of a squirrel in our back tree line. Jeff's dad built these little squirrel feeders and I have laughed so many times while watching the squirrels sit on the chairs and eat an ear of corn. Now they have started to bury the kernels in our yard, so if you drive by our house later this Spring/Summer, don't be surprised to see corn stalks scattered around our yard! HA!

I have a few other funny photos, so I might add a few others during the day.

All nighter takes on a whole new meaning!

If you know my husband and saw this picture years ago, you might have thought he had been out with the guys or working at the club all night...even Bailey looks tired!

But if I zoom out a bit and show you the larger's just what happens when you have 3 week old triplet girls!

Jeff decided to stay home today and tomorrow with us, so my mom went home last night to get some much needed rest (she actually gets 5 nights of uninterrupted sleep in her own bed before she is coming back!) Well, since he was going to be home today, he got up with me at each of the feedings last night and even let me go back to bed after the 3am feeding and 2 girls were finished while he stayed up with Ava "aka Houdini" after she escaped her swaddle. So I guess times have certainly changed for GATOR. :)

I love my Triplet TV!

I mentioned in one of my very first posts about how my dad had wired cameras into the nursery over each of the girl's cribs. Well, I thought I should show you how cool they are! I have named the programming Triplet TV and we have an Anna Channel, Ava Channel and Alexis Channel. Right now we are just watching the Alexis Channel since all 3 girls are sleeping in her crib. But once they get a little bigger and move to their own cribs we will be able to scroll through the 3 channels and look at all 3 separately. The picture below is of Triplet TV-Alexis Channel shown on our TV in the kitchen. It's so nice that we don't have to run all the way upstairs for every little noise we hear on the monitor because we can see what they are doing. Also, we sometimes catch things before we even hear them. Yesterday, Ava had a little spit up and my mom and I saw it on the TV first, so I was already half way up the stairs before she started crying. Gotta love Triplet TV. I recommend it for all new parents!

Happy Easter!

Yesterday was the first day that the girls met their cousin Thomas. He has been very eagerly and patiently waiting to meet them but needed to wait until they were a little bigger and he hadn't been near anyone sick for at least 2 weeks. He scrubbed in and put on Purell about 10 times and he finally got his chance to hold them and even fed Anna. He was great with them! He says Anna is his favorite so far because she kept smiling up at him. Too bad we can't ever catch that in photos...she is always the one sleeping! Here he is holding Ava.

We took our first "Jeff and Marie + 3" Photo!

Thanks to Aunt Tammy, Uncle Bill and Thomas for the Bunny baskets and to Uncle Scott, Aunt Julia and Quinn & Sofia for the chicks! (Also, Aunt Rhonda sent the girls their first U.S. mail...Easter was very cute to see cards addressed to the girls!)

I love how they are all reaching out to one another in this picture. :)

Hope you all had a very Happy Easter!

We survived!

Last night was the first night that Jeff and I have had the girls by ourselves. We finally let my mom go home to catch up on her own sleep and have a bit of life for herself. We survived and it actually went quite well. Of course during the week this will be much harder since Jeff goes to work, so it will be hard for him to help with every feeding, but for weekends, it was nice to know we can actually do this. :)

The girls are getting up about every 3 hours with Anna being the leader of the pack and sometimes wanting to eat every 2.5 hours. She definitely keeps us on schedule. By the time we change all 3, feed all 3, burp all 3 and hold all 3, an hour or more has passed and then we try to get 1.5 or 2 hours of sleep and start all over again. :) I can't complain girls are so great. They really are good babies and aren't overly fussy. When they cry it is usually because we are changing their diaper (they really don't like their feet uncovered) or if they are hungry. And if they are just crying, they are easily soothed by just snuggling and getting them to lay down on one of our chests. They love to snuggle. I will probably regret it later that we hold them so much if they can't go to sleep without us holding them, and I pretend that it is for them, but really I think I need that snuggle time just as much. They are just too sweet.

Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend. We'll try to take some pictures tomorrow for Easter!

Miss Anna

Here is one of my favorite pictures of Miss Anna and her daddy. It was taken when she was about 2 days old and I just think it is so sweet how she is looking up at Jeff. I kept forgetting to add it here you go!

Pediatrician Appt. today!

Today we ventured out with ALL of the girls. Anna and Ava had their first Pediatrician appointment and she wanted to see Alexis again to get her weight etc. So my parents were kind enough to drive my vehicle and take us to the appointment since Jeff had meetings at work he couldn't miss so he came straight from work. It was quite a funny little scene since the 3 girls' carseats take up the entire back seat, I am lucky that my pathfinder has a 3rd row seat so I sat back there so I could see all of the girls and watch them while we drove to the Dr. It is pretty funny the comments and looks we get as we each carried a baby into the Dr. office. The Fed Ex guy walking out of the building made a comment about having our hands full...he has no idea how full they really are, but once again, we just feel so blessed and I would rather they be full than empty. :) I told him that I was lucky that I had my parents help. Once again, so grateful for all of their assistance during this time. My poor mom is on the same "lack of sleep" schedule as we are.

So here are the updates from today's appointment:

Anna now weighs 5 lbs and 1/2 oz
Ava now weighs 5 lbs 4 oz
Alexis now weighs 4 lbs 10oz

They are all healthy and were the hit of the Dr. office. I have to say I really love the Pediatrician office we selected. They get us right back into a room so we don't sit out in the waiting area (even though they have a separate waiting room for sick kids.) They don't even make us wait in the well-kids side because they know how risky it is to have the girls exposed to other people right now. The Dr. is very adamant about not allowing visitors until we are through the flu and RSV season. So for now, we are trying to update all of you via this blog and hopefully can share the girls with you in another month and a half or so....I guess the main RSV season goes through April and risks go down obviously as the girls get older too.

We snapped a few pictures while at the Dr. today. Anna and Ava just hung out in their diapers and didn't make a fuss. Alexis (who didn't even have to lay their naked) made more of a fuss than the other two, but was still pretty cute! Check out Ava trying to eat Anna's foot!

The girls like to hang out in their boppy pillows after they are done with their bottles.

Ava is certainly our mover and shaker....she can get out of any swaddled blanket and pretty much grunts until she at least gets her arms out. Check out this photo my mom took that shows how much she can get out on her own....just wait til she starts crawling!

These are the roses that were in church on Sunday in honor of the girls' births. My dad arranged for their announcement and their names were also in the bulletin. I thought they were so nice and pretty.

Anna and Ava are home!

Today is the first full day that everyone is home. Anna and Ava came home last night and it was good to see the 3 girls sleeping next to one another! My mom stayed over night to help us and thank goodness she did. The girls were all getting up at pretty much the same time, but while I was giving one her bottle, Jeff was feeding another and my mom had the 3rd. So it was really nice to have that extra pair of hands...especially at 3am! We did get a little sleep and honestly I slept great just knowing that my 3 little miracles were all finally home.

So last weekend was supposedly the Blizzard of 2008 (by the way, I was born during the winter that had the Blizzard of '78)

And this weekend could begin the Whirlwind of '08, but we are just so excited.
Here are pictures from today! It's so fun to see the girls all side by side. I can't believe how easy they are to tell apart now that we have them all home and see them together. That doesn't mean we won't continue to put them in certain colors for a is Anna in Green, Ava in Pink and Alexis in Purple! Enjoy!

Anna and Ava are coming home today!

So today is another BIG day for the girls. They will all be back together because we will be picking up Anna and Ava from the hospital later this evening when Jeff is off from work! I can't wait to have all 3 girls home and see them all side-by-side! Although, as much as I thought they all looked similar last week, now I have no trouble telling them apart. They certainly have their own beautiful features and they are starting to show us their personalities. It's so fun!

Alexis is doing great at home. She had her first pediatrician appointment yesterday and has already gained 3.5 ozs since leaving the hospital on Tuesday night. She now weighs 4 lbs. 6.5 ozs! So she has gained back what she initially lost after birth and then added a few more! She sure is a good eater and has just been an absolute joy to have at home. The Dr. yesterday said she was a very healthy little girl! Good job Alexis!

I'm glad we are bringing the other 2 girls home today so Jeff is able to be around all weekend with us. He is just so good with all 3 and I'm not sure if he will admit it or not, but they all have him wrapped around their little pinkies already....he's such a great daddy!

I will try to add pictures of the homecoming sometime later this evening or later this weekend.

By the way...Happy Birthday to our friend Jodi! She is celebrating a very special birthday today and the girls decided to celebrate by coming home! Hope you have a great one Jodi, we love you!

Alexis is Home!

Alexis Marie Thornhill came home yesterday evening, March 11th! She is doing fantastic and even slept for a few hours at a time over night. My mom stayed the night to make me feel a little more comfortable, but I think I did pretty well, getting up with her and at one point I just didn't want to put her back in her crib and just held her for hours. She is just as sweet as can be. I told her to enjoy this now, because it sounds like her sisters are close on her tail and will be following her home real soon.

Here is a picture from Alexis' Big Day yesterday

...and of course I had to include what Anna and Ava were doing yesterday too...sleeping. :)

Last born may be the first home!

So yesterday my mom brought me down to the NICU to visit with the girls. We were able to spend the entire afternoon there and then Jeff came after work too. All 3 are doing amazingly well and the Dr.'s just keep telling us that we have some really healthy kids! "Kids", that sounds so strange, but we have kids! :)

Anna and Ava moved into open cribs on Saturday night and Alexis moved into her open crib on Sunday evening. What this means is they are no longer in their little isolettes, but instead in an open crib where they have to regulate their own temperature. They all took to it like little champs and have had no problems with temps! It's also fun, because when they moved to their open cribs, they also got to put on their little sleeper outfits for the first time. Even preemie size is huge on them, but the nurses assure me that they will be filling them out in no time.

All of last week, little Alexis (the youngest and smallest) was sleeping A LOT, so we didn't have any photos of her awake. Well during our visit on Sunday, she was WIDE awake and I included some of her newest pictures below as well as some of her yesterday! Speaking of Alexis, the Dr.'s think she may be the first to be coming home. It seems crazy to us since she is the smallest, but she is doing so well and hasn't had any spit up issues and continues to chow down on her bottles, so she may come home as early as TODAY or TOMORROW!!!! Hey Aunt Melissa...sounds like we have another feisty and fun "baby of the family" on our hands like you and me! :)

Anna and Ava are both doing great too. They each had one episode where they spit up a little and their heart rates dropped for a second or so while they did it. The Dr.'s say after they have one of those episodes, they generally like to keep them for 5 more days to keep watching them to make sure it doesn't happen again. They said with one baby it is generally not an issue, but since we will have 3 at home, it would be hard for us to ever relax if one or 2 of them was spitting up and could possibly choke. So as a precaution, Anna and Ava will probably be there for a few more days. I think it is because they like to eat so much and get a little too much all at once. :)

I'll let you all know when Alexis comes home. I think this will all be getting a lot more real this week. :)

I'm home and the girls are not far behind!

So Jeff brought me home from the hospital yesterday. It was so great to finally be home, but I was very sad to leave the girls. I know they are all in great hands at OSU, but I didn't want to be leaving without them.

As of yesterday, none of them were on IV's and they all were increasing their feedings by bottles right on track or even as some Dr's say...way ahead of schedule. I think they just want to come home soon too so they are are the fast track!

The nurses at OSU NICU are fantastic and they really care about our little girls. They have made them all little name plaques and even went around to all 3 on Thursday and did a photo shoot of all 3 separately so we would have even more pictures. :) I think they are in love with our girls almost as much as we are. They all rave about them and say they are all so sweet and such good eaters. (I don't think it was ever a doubt that they wouldn't be good eaters coming from us.)

I think Anna REALLY looks like her daddy and Alexis does too. I secretly hope that Ava looks at least a little like me, but really all 3 look VERY similar. Anna and Ava are usually the ones wide awake most of the time and little Alexis likes her sleep. She really gets kind of mad when you mess with her or tickle her legs when she is trying to sleep. She just pulls them up and stretches them out so far as if to say...."hey, I'm trying to sleep and grow here, quit messing with me!" But we just can't keep our hands off of them. They are just so soft and so sweet and in our eyes, just perfect!

With the crazy amount of snow we just received, it is probably better that we aren't trying to bring the girls home this weekend. One nurse told us that we needed to take the NICU discharge class this weekend (Sunday) because next weekend would probably be too late...meaning at least one, if not all 3 could be coming home in the next week! Of course they also tell us not to be discouraged if they slow up on their feedings etc. since they literally have been on the fast track. So we just keep praying that they continue to grow and do what they need to do.

I'm trying to add photos, but of course...the website is giving me fits. I promise I will keep trying...I want to share the girls with all of you as soon as possible too!

Gator's Girls!

**So we are still trying to update all of you with all of the great details but the hospital only has certain locations for wireless and this is the first access we have had since Tuesday morning, so bear with us until we go home and can add pictures from there.**

All of Gator's Girls are doing great! (Marie included. :) They are all beautiful and healthy but of course we are a little biased.
The Dr.'s and nurses all keep telling us that they are HUGE for triplets and that we really did a great job of making it to 34.5 weeks. So we are just thanking God and feel so happy and blessed to have 3 healthy little girls.

I can't wait until I can add pictures because I was able to get one of Jeff holding Anna yesterday and she was just snuggling on his chest and he looked like an ole' pro! After he gave her back to the nurse she cried for about 5 mins until they gave her a clearly she missed her daddy! Everyone thought Jeff would be outnumbered, but I think I will be the one that will be left out since they will probably all be "Daddy's little Girls"! :) I love it!

I finally got to see them yesterday for the first time and I can't even tell you how great it was. They just all warmed my heart and I love them so much already! I have now been able to hold all of them and I have fed bottles to Ava and Alexis. Jeff has fed Anna so far...but he did turn down the opportunity to change her diaper yesterday. He figures we'll have plenty to take care of once they are home, so he thought the nurses could handle it for now. :) In his words...."that's what I'm paying them for." :)

I am scheduled to go home tomorrow and am looking forward to being back in my own bed and home with Jeff. Hopefully the girls will all be joining us within the next 2 weeks or so. The Dr.'s haven't really given us a timeline yet, but just keep reassuring us that they are all doing fantastic and really just need to proove that they can gain weight and maintain their temperatures. So far they are ahead of the game and the Dr.'s are basically telling us that they are perfect and progressing ideally.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, comments, flowers, gifts, phone calls, emails and just outpouring of support. Even if we haven't been able to talk with you personally, please know how much we love and appreciate you all.

Stay tuned for pictures over this weekend!
PS...They all have hair and right now it looks pretty blonde....Ava's is a little darker like Marie's....well-my natural color. :) I think Anna and Alexis look more like their daddy....blonde hair or not. We just think they are all just so adorable!

Triple A Team Arrived 3/3/08!

Anna, Ava and Alexis arrived last night at 7:19, 7:20 and 7:22 pm! All of the girls are doing great! They are in the NICU for the moment, however all are big and healthy and doing great! We haven't been told a timeline as to how long they will need to stay in the NICU, but we are very optimistic since they are all breathing on their own and haven't had any problems. They are basically just staying there for observation and to make sure they continue to do so well.

Here are the details:
Anna Caroline Thornhill
4 lbs, 7 oz
17 inches

Ava Jane Thornhill
5 lbs, 3 oz
18.5 inches

Alexis Marie Thornhill
4 lbs, 2.5 oz
16.5 inches

We'll add more pictures and details as soon as the wireless is working better in the hospital.
